Terms and Conditions
Last updated: 2 November 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and SongLens. They cover what SongLens does, what you can expect from it, what we ask of you, and what happens when something goes wrong. Please read them before using the app.
The short version
SongLens shows you an AI's interpretation of a song — what its themes and mood might be. It is one reading among many, not a fact and not the artist's own account. We build it from a song's title, artist, genre and release details; we do not use song lyrics. Be reasonable with the service, and we will be reasonable with you.
This summary is here to help. It is not part of the agreement — the sections below are.
1. Who you are agreeing with
SongLens is operated as a trade name from Rovaniemi, Finland. It is not currently a registered company. You can reach us at [email protected] for anything about the service, or [email protected] for anything about your personal data. A postal address is available on request by email.
In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean SongLens. "You" means the person using the app.
2. Accepting these terms
You accept these terms when you first use SongLens — whether you create an account or use the free trial without one. If you do not accept them, please do not use the app.
3. Who can use SongLens
- You must be at least 13 years old.
- If you are under 18, you may only use SongLens with the permission of a parent or guardian, and you must have their permission before making any purchase.
- You must not use SongLens if we have previously closed your account for breaking these terms.
4. What SongLens does — and what it does not do
SongLens generates an interpretive analysis of a song or artist using an AI model. You search for a song, and the app returns an interpretation: themes, emotional tone, cultural context.
Two things about that are important enough to state plainly:
- Interpretations are generated from song metadata, not from lyrics. The AI receives the title, the artist name, the genre or tags, the duration and the release information. It does not receive the lyrics, and SongLens does not store, display or reproduce lyrics.
- An interpretation is not a statement of fact. It is an AI's reading, and it can be wrong, incomplete, or simply one plausible take out of many. It is not the artist's stated meaning, it is not endorsed by the artist or their label, and it should not be relied on as accurate information about any real person.
SongLens is for interest and enjoyment. It is not professional, medical, psychological, legal or financial advice, and it should not be used as a substitute for any of those.
5. AI-generated content
Interpretations are produced by a third-party AI model (currently Anthropic's Claude). They are generated automatically, and no person at SongLens reviews an interpretation before you see it.
Because of that:
- Interpretations may contain errors, or claims about an artist or song that are not accurate.
- The same song may produce different interpretations at different times.
- If you see an interpretation that is wrong, offensive, or unfair to a real person, please report it in the app (Report this interpretation on the interpretation, or Profile → Contact support). We review reports and can remove content.
Reporting matters to us. It is the main way we find out when the AI has produced something it should not have.
6. Your account
- You can try SongLens without an account. That free trial is a fixed number of interpretations for the app installation, and it does not reset.
- To save songs, keep a history, or get a daily allowance, you need an account. Creating one needs a username, an email address and a password.
- Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens on your account. Tell us at [email protected] if you think someone else has access to it.
- Give us accurate information, and keep your email address current — it is how we reach you about your account.
- One account per person. Do not create accounts to get around usage limits.
You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete account. What that removes, and when, is described in the Privacy Policy.
7. Acceptable use
Please do not:
- Use SongLens for anything unlawful, or to harass, defame or harm anyone.
- Try to break, overload, probe or reverse-engineer the service, or get around its usage limits, rate limits or authentication.
- Scrape or bulk-extract interpretations, or resell them as your own product or dataset.
- Use automated tools to make requests, except a normal app store client.
- Upload anything to support requests that you do not have the right to share, or that contains someone else's personal data without their knowledge.
- Present an AI interpretation as the artist's own statement about their work.
If you break these rules we may limit, suspend or close your account. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond.
8. Usage limits
How many interpretations you can create per day depends on your plan. The app shows your current plan and today's usage on the Subscription screen.
SongLens also runs cost limits that protect the service as a whole. If a daily service-wide or per-account spending limit is reached, new interpretations pause until the next day. This is a safety limit on our running costs, not a penalty, and the app will say so when it happens.
9. Subscriptions and payment
- Paid plans are sold as auto-renewing subscriptions through Google Play. SongLens never takes your payment details, and we cannot see your card.
- The price you pay is the price Google Play shows you at the moment of purchase, in your own currency and including any applicable tax. That is the price that governs — not any figure shown elsewhere.
- Subscriptions renew automatically for the same period until you cancel. Google Play charges the renewal at the start of each period.
- You cancel in Google Play (Play Store → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions), or via Manage subscription in the app, which opens the same place. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep the plan until the end of the period you have already paid for.
- We may change plan prices or daily allowances. If we do, we will give you reasonable notice before it affects a renewal, and you can cancel before that renewal if you do not want to continue.
- In-app purchases are not currently available on iOS.
Refunds, and your right to cancel under EU consumer law, are covered in the Refund Policy, which forms part of these terms.
10. Music information from other services
Song and artist information — including titles, artist names, album details and cover artwork — comes from Spotify and MusicBrainz. It belongs to those services and their contributors, or to the rights holders in the recordings and artwork, not to us.
Cover artwork is displayed from the source service's own servers. We do not host, licence or claim any right in it, and we display it only to identify the song you are looking at. If you hold rights in artwork shown in SongLens and want it removed, write to [email protected] and we will act on it.
Your use of that information through SongLens is also subject to those services' own terms. SongLens is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Spotify, MusicBrainz, Google, or any artist, label or publisher.
11. Intellectual property
Ours: the SongLens name, logo, app, design and code are ours. These terms do not give you any right to use them beyond using the app normally.
Yours: anything you send us — a support message, a screenshot, a report — stays yours. You give us permission to use it for the purpose you sent it for: answering you, fixing the problem, and reviewing reported content.
Interpretations: you may read, save and share interpretations SongLens generates for you, for your own non-commercial use, as long as you do not present them as anything other than an AI interpretation. We do not claim you owe us anything for that, and we make no claim that an AI-generated interpretation is protected by copyright at all.
12. Availability and changes to the service
We aim to keep SongLens working, but it is provided as-is and we do not promise it will always be available, uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, suspend or discontinue features. If we discontinue a paid feature you are currently paying for, see the Refund Policy.
13. Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability where the law does not allow it. In particular, nothing here limits our liability for:
- death or personal injury caused by our negligence;
- fraud, or loss we cause deliberately or through gross negligence;
- your rights under data protection law; or
- your statutory rights as a consumer, including your remedies if SongLens or a paid subscription is not as described, such as a price reduction or ending the subscription.
Subject to that: we are responsible for loss you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care. Loss is foreseeable if it was obvious it would happen, or if both of us knew it might happen when you started using SongLens. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable.
SongLens is made for personal use, so we are not responsible for business losses, such as lost profit or lost business opportunities.
Interpretations are one possible reading of a song, generated by AI, and may be wrong (see section 5). We are not responsible for loss caused by treating an interpretation as a statement of fact, unless that loss was caused by us breaking these terms.
Where our liability can be limited, it is limited to whichever is higher: the amount you paid us for SongLens in the twelve months before the event that caused the loss, or €50.
14. Ending this agreement
You can stop using SongLens at any time, and delete your account from Profile → Delete account. Deleting your account does not by itself cancel a Google Play subscription — cancel that in Google Play as well.
We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if we are required to by law, or if we stop offering the service. If we close your account for a reason that is not your fault and you have paid for a period you cannot now use, see the Refund Policy.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change materially affects your rights, we will email you at the address on your account at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you do not accept the change, you can stop using SongLens and delete your account. Continuing to use SongLens after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
If you use SongLens without an account, we have no way to contact you, so check this page: the date at the top is the date of the current version.
16. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by Finnish law. If you are a consumer resident in the EU or EEA, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country where you live, and you can bring proceedings in your own country's courts.
If you have a complaint, please email [email protected] first — most things are quicker to fix that way. If we cannot resolve it between us:
- Consumers in Finland can refer the dispute to the Finnish Consumer Disputes Board (kuluttajariitalautakunta, kuluttajariita.fi), after first contacting the Consumer Advisory Service.
- Consumers elsewhere in the EU or EEA can get free help from their national European Consumer Centre (ECC-Net).
17. Other things worth knowing
- If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies.
- If we do not enforce a right straight away, we have not given it up.
- You may not transfer your account or your rights under these terms to someone else. We may transfer ours if the service changes hands, and will tell you if that happens.
- These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy and Refund Policy, are the whole agreement between us about SongLens.
