Refund Policy
Last updated: 2 November 2026
The short version
SongLens subscriptions are bought and paid for through Google Play, so Google processes refunds, not us. Within 48 hours of purchase you can refund it yourself in Google Play. After that, ask Google — and tell us too, because we can support your request.
If you are in the EU or EEA you also have a 14-day right to cancel. Section 3 explains how that works for a subscription you start using straight away.
1. Who actually takes your money
SongLens has no payment system of its own. Every paid plan is an auto-renewing subscription sold through Google Play. Google takes the payment, holds your payment details, issues the receipt, and is the party that can put money back on your card.
This matters practically: we cannot issue a refund directly. Anyone who tells you otherwise — including us, if we ever get it wrong — is mistaken. What we can do is confirm your account and usage to Google in support of a request, and we will.
2. Refunds through Google Play
Within 48 hours of purchase
You can refund it yourself, without asking anyone:
- Open the Google Play Store.
- Go to Payments & subscriptions → Budget & order history.
- Find the SongLens purchase and choose Refund or Report a problem.
This is Google's process and its timing, not ours.
After 48 hours
Use Report a problem on the same order and explain what happened. Google reviews these case by case.
Email us at [email protected] at the same time. If the problem was on our side, we will say so to Google in writing, and we would rather you got your money back than kept a subscription that did not work.
3. Your 14-day right to cancel (EU and EEA)
If you are a consumer in the EU or EEA, the Consumer Rights Directive gives you 14 days to withdraw from a distance contract, without giving a reason. A SongLens subscription is such a contract, and this right applies on top of anything in section 2.
There is one condition that catches people out, so here it is plainly:
Digital services are usually available the instant you pay. To get that instant access, you are asked to agree that the service starts immediately and to acknowledge that you lose your right of withdrawal once it has been fully performed. For an ongoing subscription, we do not treat the service as "fully performed" the moment you open the app. Our position is the fairer one:
Within 14 days of purchase you may withdraw, and we will support a refund of the amount you paid, reduced in proportion to what you have already used. If you have used nothing, we will support a full refund.
To withdraw, email [email protected] within 14 days of the purchase, saying you want to withdraw. You can use the form in section 7, but you do not have to — any clear statement is enough. We will confirm in writing and take it up with Google Play, which is where the money is.
4. Renewals
Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. Cancel before the renewal date and you are not charged again; you keep the plan until the end of the period you have already paid for.
Cancel in Play Store → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → SongLens → Cancel subscription, or use Manage subscription in the app, which opens the same screen.
We do not automatically refund a renewal you meant to cancel but forgot. If that happens, contact us within a reasonable time — if you have not used the new period, we will support a refund request. It costs us nothing to be decent about this.
Deleting your SongLens account does not cancel your Google Play subscription. Cancel it in Google Play as well, or Google will keep charging you.
5. When we will actively support a refund
We will back your request to Google, in writing, in these situations:
- You were charged for a plan you did not receive — you paid but the app kept you on Free.
- SongLens was unavailable or broken for a significant part of a period you paid for.
- You were charged twice for the same period.
- We closed your account for a reason that was not your fault, and you had paid for time you could no longer use.
- We discontinued a paid feature you were actively paying for, mid-period.
- A child or another person used your device to buy a subscription without your permission.
- You withdrew within 14 days under section 3.
6. When we will not
Being straight about this is fairer than being vague:
- You used the plan and simply changed your mind after the 14-day window.
- You did not like the interpretations SongLens produced. They are an AI's reading and can be wrong — that is stated before you subscribe, in the app and in the Terms.
- You forgot to cancel long ago and are asking for many past periods back.
- Your account was closed for seriously or repeatedly breaking the Terms.
- The free trial — there is nothing to refund, as nothing was paid.
None of this limits your statutory rights as a consumer. Where the law gives you a stronger right than this policy, the law wins.
7. Model withdrawal form
You do not have to use this form. Any clear statement that you are withdrawing is enough.
To: SongLens — [email protected]
I hereby give notice that I withdraw from my contract for the following service:
- SongLens subscription (plan: ______________)
- Ordered on: ______________
- Name: ______________
- Email address on the SongLens account: ______________
- Google Play order number (if known): ______________
- Date: ______________
8. How long it takes
- We aim to reply to refund emails within 5 working days.
- Where we support a request, we aim to contact Google within the same period.
- The refund itself is paid by Google to your original payment method, on Google's timing — typically a few working days, sometimes longer depending on your bank.
9. If you disagree with the outcome
Email [email protected] and say why — we would rather resolve it directly. If we cannot:
- Consumers in Finland can refer the dispute to the Finnish Consumer Disputes Board (kuluttajariitalautakunta, kuluttajariita.fi), after contacting the Consumer Advisory Service.
- Consumers elsewhere in the EU or EEA can get free help from their national European Consumer Centre (ECC-Net).
- Where the charge itself is disputed, Google Play's own support process applies in parallel.
10. iOS
In-app purchases are not currently available on iOS. If that changes, purchases there will go through Apple, Apple's refund process will apply in place of Google's, and this page will be updated before it happens.
11. Contact
